Message Hi, just wanted to say how wonderful your dogs look and that I admire you for all the time and effort you must put into breeding your dogs, I have only bred one litter of ESS and heres my story and why I won't be doing it again.....I have 3 English Springers of my own, we decided to breed a litter from our dogs this year and I can safely say that we won't be doing it again, mum had 8 beautiful pups (4 boys and 4 girls, 4 b&w like dad and 4l&w like mum). 1 week after the pups where born mum got mastitis, nothing that we had done wrong she just had too much milk the vet said (even with 8 pups to feed!!!) so onto antibiotics she went, everything was fine for a week and then she got an absess on her mammary gland, straight into the vets she went to have it removed, which meant myself and my husband had to hand rear 8 2 week old pups. It was hard work but very, very rewarding. The pups came on in leaps and bounds until 4 weeks old when they contracted a tummy bug, back to the vets and antibiotics for the pups too now. After poo samples being sent away and test done no-one was any the wiser and the pups where all doing well again so we just got on with it. At 8 weeks old they went off to their new homes, well....6 of them did! I had fallen in love with Oscar, a big liver and white boy, the minute he was born, he was the biggest of the litter and also the cheekiest so he was staying with us and then there was D.J. who was the double of his Dad so he had to stay too. Parting with every puppy was heartbreaking for me (being a first timer!). But luckily all the new mums and dads have kept in touch. All was going really well until last week when Oscar took ill, he kept vomiting so.....back to the vets. He had eaten something and got a blockage in his gut, "he'll be fine" everyone said, "even though hes only 12 weeks old, hes a big strong lad, don't worry about him". 2 days later Oscar died, that was a week ago and I am still devastated. Katy (mum) has been spayed because we didn't want her having another litter after all the problems. I know I can't replace Oscar and I didn't have him very long but he has left a great hole in our lives and we are now desperately looking for a pup to fill the void, we won't ever be breeding again and would ask that if anyone out there reading this will have any pups for sale in the next few months and live in the north west of england I would be really greatful if you would email me on the address above. Thanks and I wish the Canouans every success for the future, they are beautiful dogs and a credit to yourselves and the breed. Cheryl

Message I think your website is absolute fantastic. It's a must for all Springer Spaniels lovers. I simply adore Springer Spaniels, there's no breed that compares. My first Springer, Toby, who sadly passed away in May 1999, was always up to no good, and my second, Thomas, aged 5 years, is no better. Thomas has an absolute fetish for balls. If he's got a ball, food will always come a poor second! I work from home, which has a tennis court next door and I often find myself sitting at my computer when Thomas will appear at the open window behind and proceed to throw the ball through the window. Then if I don't immediately throw it back again, he screams, stamps his feet and nodds his head in a perculiar way until I dain to get up and throw it back again! What a character, he keeps everyone constantly entertained!
